Will my guitar be traveling in a damaged cargo planes?
This will be a very long flight, about noon. It would be tolerated for me to take that further because I am traveling with an organized group and we must leave our luggage before the flight. My guitar is an acoustic guitar. How it is safe for the guitar to be in the aircraft hold with other luggage? Obviously, it will be in a hard case.
I flying with my guitar several times to avoid the check as soon as I can. Acoustic guitars, as opposed to solid bodies, are particularly risk in the hold. The sudden and drastic temperature and humidity changes that may occur during landing and takeoff can cause timber to rapidly expand or contract, causing to crack. I usually explain to the person at the registration I do not trust them in handling and prefers the check at the door if necessary. Often they store it in the closet at the front of the driver the plane, sometimes they will let me store overhead, and if they can not do it, they just check at the door. He then do not go through regular baggage handling processes. Instead of picking it up at baggage claim, you get to the door you are arrived!
