Old Colony Elderly Services Launches Supportive Housing in Brockton
The program of housing support, which operates from a 10-storey building housing 266 residents at 105 Bel Air, gives older residents and those under 65 and disabled, more enhanced services that are supposed to help them "age in place".
There are four key elements of the program that helps seniors and people with disabilities remain at home longer rather than enter a nursing home: medication reminders; controls security, escort to meals five times a week on a site of communal meals and 24 / 7 emergency service response.
Housing supportive specialist has an office in the building and oversee the program five days a week eight hours 30-16 hours care services complementary such as housekeeping, personal care, lifeline and assistance to food stamps and mass forms of health will be available to residents. OCES will also provide social, recreational and educational programs such as exercise programs for arthritis and guest speakers.
All seniors and those under 65 and disabled people living in the building have access to support housing program.
OCES has partnered with medical resources, the Brockton Housing Authority BAMS and to bring the housing program of Bel Air.
An open house was held May 28 to launch the program. Diana L. DiGiorgi, Executive Director of OCES and Tom Thibeault, Chief Operating Officer of the Brockton Housing Authority introduced the program of housing support services for residents and participants.
"The Supportive Housing program is a win-win. We had a good response from residents and they are comfortable with the program, "said Barbara Brenton, Supportive Housing Program Specialist.

Incorporated in 1974, aged former colony Services (OCES) is one of 27 private, non-profit Aging Services Access Points (ASAPS) in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
